On chillies and childishness

Today, we had fish. Extremely potent and spicy fish! And if anyone is interested, I almost fainted eating it.

This had mom tell me how fish is supposed to be spicy and how I can't keep telling my husband that I can't cook spicy fish when he could love rolling around in chilies. This had me thinking. What is it that makes everyone just automatically assume that I will change my habits once I have a guy in my life? Sure, adjustments have to be there. Like getting the bowel movements organized and the extra laundry and all those things. But to actually tell someone that they should change everything about them and take up things that could give me extreme discomfort is not what I would call adjustment. And in the society where I come from, it's always the girl who adjusts. It's always the girl who takes care of all that her husband needs. The girl intuitively knows what her guy wants and needs and follows his uttered and silent commands to the T. In other words, she automatically becomes docile and obedient.

Now, if the guy likes it hot, I'll most probably divide my portions from his before I dump the chillies by the cartload and serve him his dish from hell! But apparently that just goes on to show I'm not adjusting with his tastes. Come on now! They can't be serious!! I've been called "spoilt" by people who have hardly known me and it amuses me even now. But to hear such backward a thought process from my own mother, that was an eyeopener!

It makes me wonder. If peanuts make me swell up like the Mardi Gras float and my husband happens to love peanuts, will they tell me that I should "learn to accept" peanuts even if I end up in the emergency room with a face swollen beyond recognition?

Strange... very strange!

My nails... are being weird and my mom's being weirder!

Ah fey news, my friends!

It seems like some sort of infection has set in on my little finger nail on my left hand. The nail seems a little detached from the skin and has this weird domed appearance with void between the nail and the skin. And this is halfway from the nail bed. The nail seems to have developed a conscience of its own and is growing at an angle to the rest of the healthy nail. It doesn't hurt much. But at times, there's a sense of tingling and numbness that sets in and is discomforting at most. I had reasonably long nails (read one centimeter) and I've cut it short, thanks to it snagging random stuff and driving me insane with pain and causing me to break stuff! Ah... how hard I'd worked to get those nails... and how pretty my fingers looked! Now they just look like shorn lambs.... cute... but not quite there!

If anybody knows what one can do to alleviate this awful malady, do write in!

In other news, my mom's threatened to write a suicide note implicating me of ruining her life if I were to develop pimples and end up crashing the wedding because of it. Really... wow! And now, she wants me to call my in-laws-to-be just for the heck of it. I have no idea what I should be talking to them about and suddenly, having my mom screaming at me for being so detached... it's a tad bit unnerving. What will I talk to them about?! Why can't they call them and then direct the conversation my way which will seem far more convincing. They seem to be those sorts who frown upon pretentious people and me calling them when I have nothing to talk about makes me feel all wannabe. Oy Vey! God help us all!

Mr.Raindrop... playing around in my head!

I seriously think I have transcended the border that separates the surreal from the mundane! Yes... I've become psychic people! I was just browsing through Gintama media on the web when I see the Elizabeth rain-dance. And if you don't know what that means, it's part of the ending theme of the anime Gintama, which in my humble opinion is one of the best there is! Sorachi-sensei, you rock! =D
And so, I was wondering how nice it would be to listen to that ending theme. You will not believe it, the very next song in my iPod happens to be "Mr.Raindrop" by Amplified! And that's exactly the song that was featured in that particular ending! And is so addictive! Now, I can't get that song off my head!! =3

Amazing, ain't it? I know it's kinda lame.... ^__^;; but the otaku out there should be rejoicing with me right about now! =D

P.S. The picture was taken from here -

P.P.S. Did I mention I LOVE Gintama? ;)

Seriously.... wtf?!

I have to admit... the Internet is one weird place! And with Google thrown into the picture, it's almost surreal! It's almost like there are no questions that haven't been asked before! (except perhaps some obscure book on Metallurgy... but that could be because I'm not searching too hard!)
Well, why am I at awe all of a sudden, having had the Internet at my disposal for longer than I care to remember? Well... it's a little silly, actually.

I remember a time when there were no DTH services... no hidden charges for cable channels... a time when I was the happiest (Animax.... my darling Animax! T__T). And at that time, they had shown this really weird but good (it was good because it was weird! :P) sci-fi show. I had long since forgotten its name and remember just bits and pieces of it... (the blue lady with the phallic head just refuses to leave my mind, for some weird reason!)

And suddenly, I wanted to know what that show was named. The problem, I didn't know anything about the show... not the names of the characters, the actors who played the parts... zilch! The only thing I remember vivdly is that the ship in which they travel was a live thing. And so, I did a Google search typing "ship that is alive"... I was feeling like a total twat when I was doing it. I mean... anyone who sees me thus is probably going to think I've lost my marbles!

And voila! I needn't worry. Someone had obviously had the same doubt before me and had asked the question! And strangely, the question was phrased exactly how I had pictured my query to sound like! "Which sci-fi show has a ship that is alive?"

Can you believe it?! :D And so, thanks to that good soul, I now know the name of that show.... not that knowing it gives added meaning to my life... but what the heck!

P.S. I suck at conversations! I just managed to drive away a classmate on Chat thanks to my apathetic replies ! *sigh* I lead a sad... sad life!

P.P.S. if anyone's wondering what show I was refering to, it's called "Farscape". Heard of it? Hmmmm? Hmmmmm? Hmmmmmmm?
