Time to come out of the closet!

Before anyone decides to assume things, this post is not about my sexual preferences!

This post is about the recently discovered fact that has me gaping in desperation!

I am a shopaholic!

It all came down to the morning when my mother sat me down and asked me just how much I had saved in the eight months that I've been working! When I ought to have at least fifty grand stowed away for a rainy day, I am literally penniless! So.... where is all the money gone? Where? WHERE?!!!

I sat down and did a check up on exactly where the money was going. And needless to say, I wasn't happy when I saw the results!!
The pattern was inevitable! I would save for a month and spend two month's worth salary on clothes and accessories!! And that, basically took me to square one! (or square 0.5, I don't know!!)

And majority of the clothes were T-shirts and shoes!
For someone who survived on a single pair of shoes for a good five years, (I kid you not!) I've bought three pairs of shoes that I find no use of beyond two or three wears!!
And as for clothing, I'm splurging on jeans! I've all but given up on traditional Indian clothing. Give me a good pair of jeans and a multitude of T-shirts that will keep me going for a week atleast! All the better when it comes to laundering the mess.

But then again, thanks to the fact that I have a body that is unlike any normal person, I cannot just buy random things off the racks. And anything that fits me ends up costing a lot more than it should!

I did have a reality check, a month into the job and I've been maintaining a record of how much I spend on Evernote. But I hardly see any improvement. All I do is cry at the end of the month looking at how little I have managed to save!

Oh God... I need divine intervention... or a pay hike! (I'd very much like the latter!!)

I has a sad.... Please to help?

Okay... It's kinda blue here...very blue... You know what blue reminds me of? I'll tell you.
Blue reminds me of water...water reminds me of lakes...lakes remind me of the particular awesome scene I'm writing for a fanfic...and that reminds me of the fact that I posted a chapter two days ago and can't seem to get any reviews for it...and that reminds me of the fact that I've not updated in the longest time and have only myself to blame...and that makes me feel so blue!

Ah! It's that endless cycle of blue-ness and it never ends!

WHY WON'T THEY SAY SOMETHING?!!!!!ANYTHINGS?!!!!!!!! I has a sad...naturally...

To everybody out there who's a fan of Yuu Watase's Fushigi Yuugi, head over to Fanfiction.net and read my story! Ne? I'm in the middle of reconstructing the whole thing into something that makes better sense, ne? Ah... that calls for legal action, you say? Ahahahahahaa....I've no idea what you're referring to here, sir! Have a nice day! And don't forget to declare all baby aliens when you come visiting!

On how the gold makes me see RED!

The other day, I was on Facebook when I saw some random mallu lady bedecked with an overload of jewellery in traditional Malyalee attire.

She was wearing so many necklaces that upon closer inspection, seemed stitched on. I've heard of affluent families having their bride wear as many jewels as humanly possible and have the other sets sewed onto the saree and have her look like she raided some elephant's hideout and wore the gaudy thingy mahouts put over their elephant's forehead to make them look grand.Refer to the piccie for further illustrations!

Looks good on the Pachyderm ,not on a human.
So, really...they have it and they flaunt it. What's the big friggin' problem, you ask? Seriously? I've no issues if people want to flaunt their entire bank lockers on their big day. I mean, come on! It's your day. You're getting hitched and you've all the right to look like an idiot if that's what you want! But just because someone sent their daughter away with enough gold that could be used to feed the whole of the starving children in Africa, does not mean I have to wear that when I get married.

HURR... DERP!!!!!111RAGE1
And I'm on the verge of losing my sanity when I hear the n-th dickhead ask how much gold I'll be given away with. Suck on this, asshole! I am a person. And as a person, I don't think my evaluation should be done based on how much Au my parents can provide for me. I mean, suuuure... I can almost hear those people bristle up in defence as they say the Gold's for my security when things get rocky. Really now! So, are you saying that the guy I'm marrying is actually a jerk who's not good at earning a living for his wife? Or that the family I'm getting married into will treat me so badly that I'll have to go my separate way, selling my gold to fill my stomach? Or are you inherently a douchebag?

I'm a person who's of the belief that wealth is not to be flaunted. Sure, your opinions are yours and mine are mine. But since this blog is mine, deal with it! Not all the gold in the world can equal to a single loving person . And if you're obtuse enough to know that and live by it, you deserve to be anally raped by a rabid Grizzly Bear.

P.S. I'm aware my recent post have been...er... a little on the brazen side. But whatever!

I've a headcold! And the case of the ouchies!

Alrighty.... I have the worst head cold in the world! And to top that, my entire body seems to be buzzing and the winner fact? I am actually laughing! That's an indication of how much pain I'm going through! ROFL! A lot... I believe the common cold is one of the most irritating illnesses in the world! It's only when you have a cold that your nose blocks up constricting breathing but the snot still flows out with almost negligible viscosity! Argh.... Physics... you're not taking care of things in the universe as we hope you are!

And Mom and Dad seem irritated when I tell them my body hurts. Well, excuse me if I feel like being torn apart by the clones of Entei! One would think they'd be happy I'm not crying and being a baby! Goes out to show how much tolerance people can have for others' suffering... even family! It's a sad and despicable world we live in.

Alrighty! Since my arms feel like lead and I've taken some medication that requires me to sleep off, I'm cutting this post short here. Weird, how I get the headcold more frequently in Summer than in Winter!

Ah... Do send me some vegetable broth if you can, folks! :) (I have no shame and shall ask for what I want! :D)

P.S. Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Twitter is banal? I mean.... seriously! You just wait till I get better! I'm going to write an elaborate post on why I think so! And yes... I had a twitter account. And I'm wondering if I was drunk when I created it!

I'm finally finally finally.... getting ANIMAX!!!! KYAAAAAAAAA!!!!! :D

Are you the kind of person who gets the "oh-god-she's-at-it-again-like-a-ten-year-old!" stares on a regular basis? Are you the type to fall madly in love with an Anime character and go out professing your love for all to hear irrespective of there not being anyone who's listening? Are you the one cries when your favorite character dies or worse... finds a girlfriend? Well, that means you're an Otaku!

For those wondering why I'm rambling on about Anime and Otaku now,
And I, for one, am one! Wooot! :D
I'm really over the moon to let you all know that I have access to Animax once more! Yayayayayayayayayayay!

For those wondering what Animax is, were you living under a rock or something?! It's the only Anime oriented channel in the country and goes out to show how different Anime is from *pfft* cartoons! Exactly why there is an Animax apart from a Cartoon Network, people!

I remember a time when Animax was a free to air channel and suddenly, I felt like I actually belonged somewhere amidst all those characters and I didn't need to be someone else as my other 'real' friends expected me to be, most of the time. And then, Fate dealt me the "Hand of Death" and Animax went bye bye into the land of paid channels. And suddenly, I was left with nothing but mindless soap operas and silly reality shows! To make things worse, I didn't have anyone around who appreciated my need for Anime and everybody I turned to tended to laugh at me and tell me to grow up. (In spite of my constant reminder that Anime was NOT a Cartoon!!)

But today, I finally saw some of the old shows I'd watched years ago and suddenly, it was like being home... Sure, there were minor changes here and there.... but still.... the love is still there... the characters have not changed. Ah... to see Inuyasha battle it out with Naraku over the final shard of the Shikon no Tama, stuck to Housenki's body... Ah... to see Sesshoumaru fight for his brother even though he claims not to give a damn! Ah, Bliss!!!

Now if they only decide to air Gintama, I'll definitely die of Happiness! Hey, folks at Animax.... are you listening? Hmmmmm? Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

P.S. Excuse the raccoon nose digging pun... and if you didn't get it, I guess you haven't watched Gintama yet! Go watch it NOW!!!

P.P.S. On second thought, Ali the Raccoon looks more like a fox! -__-;;;

P.P.P.S. I'm going to shut up now! :D

Blame... Blame.... Blame!

I've some very sad news to share. An 18 month old child was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Bangalore. My deepest condolences and the kindest thoughts go with the mourning parents of the deceased. And I know that nothing can ever make the pain go away as far as their loss is concerned. You can read more on that story here.

But I've also been seeing a lot of "Anti Animal Rights Activist" thing going on. It's like almost the entire country is bashing the animal rights activists for having brought about the ABC law (Animal Birth Control law) into existence. And though I know the incident was extremely sad and unfortunate, there's really no need to bear up the arms against the activists!

Now, let us ask ourselves a few questions before we begin the activist bashing. Alright?

Who's to blame here?

The dogs? The guy around whom the dogs hung around? The parents?

........*grumblegrumble*.........

Have you ever felt like the mouse aboard a sinking ship, having no say in what is to come your way? Well... right now, I distinctly understand and sympathize with the little rodents! And here are the reasons why.

  • My Project guide has managed to confuse my already muddled up brain by alternating between two different calculation techniques and he can't seem to decide if he wants to give me the Hydrogen Molecule scenario or the Hydrogen Bonding one! And as a result, my project needs to be started from scratch.... again!
  • Some people are really REALLY starting to bug me with their annoying third grade antics and for once, I wish I could just slap them and tell them to get a life.
  • My doctor seems to think I might either have a very low Blood Pressure or very low sugar count or... god help us, BOTH!
  • Though I hate saying this, the Chennai heat is finally getting to me!
  • My PhD entrance results all seem like my current social status - DOA.
  • My cat hates me!
  • Parents are seriously considering marrying me off to some random Nair boy. And if I hear anyone cheering for this, I swear I shall plunge the Narsil up your booty!
  • I slowly seem to be losing what little hold I have over the good things in life!

There you have it folks! So, the next time you hear me muttering to myself when I pass you by, just shrug and walk away... or if you really feel like helping, a nice pat on the back with an occasional 'there! there!' will suffice!

Confusions

Am I being too naive?

Am I reading the signs all wrong?

Am I on my way to heart-break central?

I sure as hell hope not!

True feelings emerge...

It hasn't been a day since they found out the remains of the dead Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and his party people have already started fighting over who would be the next CM. And thanks to his demise, I got a day off today. And I'm already feeling bad for feeling thankful! How can we be so callous when it comes to 'others'? We feel when someone close to us dies. But for some reason, that feeling is absent when some stranger dies.

I don't think we can be blamed for that. I mean, we're human after all! To feel sad for every death would make our existence a dreary one. But I still cannot digest what those politicians in AP are doing. I'm sure YSR's family are feeling disgusted by what they see. And all I can say is that, I feel for them.

I hope YSR is finally in a happy place, away from people who've used him or given him a bad name. Rest in peace, sir. And as for all those other people who're fighting it out for the post of the next Chief Minister, You guys'll die one day too and then we'll see how many people feel sorry, seeing you go!

And so it starts.... again.

Ah.... my university has finally reopened for my final year! And though I was a little nervous about getting back to the course, things aren't thaaaat bad. And I will have people know that my idea of 'not thaaaat bad' is actually 'thaaaat bad'!!

If any of those reading this are searching for the long lost cousin of the Grinch, I'll be more than happy to point out his current location. He now dwells in my Department in the University, masquerading as my HOD (Head Of the Department).

Since my classes start at eight thirty and since my university was a good one and a half hour away from my house, I had to get up pretty early! But the bus drivers and ticket issuers (also called conductors here) aren't that bothered about the fact that I could get killed by the Grinc-I mean, my HOD. And so, I ended up a good half an hour behind schedule. But I seriously think I got up the right side of my bed today (And I don't remember which side that is! T__T) because the classes apparently start only at ten thirty on the first day. But not even five minutes had passed when the said HOD stomped into our room.

He then took all of us who were there on a tour around the department. He wanted to show off whatever squandering he'd done with the funds those gullible suckers from the DST-FIST Program so easily handed over. And this includes a state of the art seminar hall that stinks like crazy of some chemical that we don't know the name of, of a dozen apparatuses that nobody in the department know how to work and new projection screens for the classrooms that will probably never see the light of day (or night... or whatever!).

And later on, he managed to give us the heebie jeebies by proclaiming how he was going to skin us alive if we ever dared disobey his orders. Yep... and we're all twenty-somethings who'll most probably be getting into research or teaching after this course is over. Now that's what I call good 'ol professionalism people! ;D

Anyway... it seems like we need to complete a mini-project of sorts this semester and I'm paired with two people who'd rather jump into the raging seas than work with me (and that feeling is entirely mutual!) This is what the wise ones of ancient times called Being caught in between the Devil and the Sea! Something tells me this semester is going to be extremely hilarious!

And now that I remember, I must be at my class by eight tomorrow. This sucketh... like the biggest suckery the world has ever witnessed!

Ai Elbereth! God help us all!

Pssssst... I almost forgot! I found news about a new Manga series called Yotsuba to! It seems like quite the interesting read. And there's one character who got my attention. Please put your hands together for dearest Danbo!

Isn't he just adorable? I'm sure if you Google for Danbo, you'll get a lot of such cute images! Be sure to enjoy them all! =D

Rants from a twenty-something!

It really irks to be an adult at times! It hasn't taken much time for my parents to be convinced that I am indeed ready for marriage and have even started hinting on applying for those 'grooms wanted' section in the Classifieds. And No, I am not amused!

First, just because I'm in my early twenties doesn't make it mandatory that I tie the knot as soon as possible! People! Marriage is such a big step! And right now, I don't even want to think about having to spend the rest of my life with anyone!

Secondly, just because I say no to the person you bring, dear parents of mine, doesn't mean I'm going to run away with my boyfriend. And just because I have a boyfriend doesn't mean I want to marry him as soon as possible! Sure, I might (stress on the 'might' part) want to settle down some day, I'll choose when!

And third, stop acting all liberal when you're not! You people are messing up my life as well! I feel cloistered and out of breath when I see that you want to push me off as soon as possible just because that is what the people around you want you to do! I mean come on! I have a life of my own and I don't care what everybody else thinks, I will choose who I spend the rest of my life with. And if I choose nobody, it just means that I find none of them worthy enough. As simple as that.

Why does everybody think anybody will be comfortable with sharing a bed with some random stranger! And the 'get-to-know-each-other' period in between the engagement and the wedding is hardly enough time to know the other person! I sometimes wish parents who are so intelligent and smart in all things under the sun, would grow a brain in this matter! After the wedding, all relations vanish politely leaving the newly-weds alone and believe me, I might just hack the poor bloke to pieces with my stress levels alone!

I am not meant to share my life with a guy.... yet. And moreover, there are so many things I want to do. My parents have controlled my social life for so long and they've hardly understood me in the process. I wonder if their selection would be any different? I don't want to leave the firm clasp my parents have over me just to be in the even tighter hold of a husband.

Sometimes, I wish I could just run away from it all... just fly away to some distant land all alone and never return! What is so wrong with wanting to be by myself?

P.S. I think I just broke my toe. JUST FRIGGIN' AWESOME >-<;;
(This post was supposed to make no sense whatsoever! And if it did, don't shoot the blogger! =P)

What's the problem peeps?

Today was one of those days where you get up with the feeling that everything will be just fine! And then you turn around and you find that things aren't going the way you want them to and there is nothing you can do to stop the hilarity from happening... and what's the point if everything went great? This post wouldn't have been more than a line long, if it had been so!

I had bagged a seat in the bus to college by seven thirty. But strangely, the darned thing didn't start until it was eight fifteen! And so, my whole aim of reaching classes in time were thrown to the wind! And to make sure I felt even more miserable, the lady who sat next to me seemed to have given up brushing her teeth decades ago! How did I know that, you ask? No! I wasn't kissing the woman! It's just that, she made it a point to sigh with her mouth placed exactly in front of my nose as she leaned over me to see if the bus driver was ever approaching.

Now, I have nothing against impatient people...actually I do, but that's deviating from the topic. If you are indeed going to go all dramatic and sigh left, right and center, please do it with a clean mouth! And no sooner had her stench reached my nostril, I was praying the bus start soon! Maybe the breeze would take it away!

And so, after a harrowing bus ride to college, I found myself forty five minutes late for class! I know! I know! I am incorrigible! But hey... just you wait! I was able to answer almost all the questions that were thrown at the class despite missing class. So, there!

And no sooner had theory classes gotten over, Lab sessions started. And I think today was one of those days when every professor suddenly remembers their mission in life and grills every unsuspecting grad student into giving a reply as to why the CRO is not working (the fact that there isn't anything inside it is immaterial, darn it!).

And so, one of the batches got grilled and as I was the first one to do that experiment, I was soon called over and asked myriad questions! And I should say I made every goal keeper in the face of the planet jealous... the way I fielded those questions... I was treading dangerous ground as like always, the equipment had died on me and I had to use the theory behind the experiment to fabricate a plausible answer!
Apparently, one of the boys who was doing the same experiment felt it was against his moral code to do something like that and worked on what screwed up reading the long demented equipment threw at him.

And by the time I was done with answering the questions and finished my own experiment for the day (It was the most annoying, nerve wracking, patience testing experiment ever!), it was five in the evening.

And if you think this was the end of the day's events, you are so wrong! The bus ride back home was just as hilarious. What would have taken any normal metropolitan bus an hour to achieve, that particular bus did in two and a half hours! And all because some pea brain had died and since he was the second cousin of the fifth cousin twice removed of the fourth son of the chief minister's personal cook, he just had to be buried with all the police escort that is normally given to martyrs and other equally silly people!

And now, as I sit in front of the system, typing this post, all I have to say is....

I'm friggin' tired peeps! Good night! =D

A scientific look at the Species called 'The Professor'

The professor is a creature that is one of the most peculiar of all creatures observed. And when I say peculiar, I mean it in a subtle myriad ways!

And so, I decided to make a small data-sheet for this one of a kind creature.
(This was complied after months of intense research! Please do make sure to have my name included in any publications that you might publish this in! *snortguffawheheh*

  • Name: The Professor
  • Scientific Name: Blunderus Exaggerata (al.) Goofius Dodofiscia (al.) Viciouscula Vendettaidrela
  • Natural Habitat: Colleges and Universities. Mostly seen in the classroom ecosystem.
  • Place in the food-web: Predator with a capital neonized P!
  • Preferred environmental conditions: Dark and dingy classrooms populated with silent and befuddled creatures called 'Students' (This species will be covered later on).
  • Preferred Prey: Students...and other smaller professors at times.
  • Interesting facts: The Professor is an interesting creature and is a highly evolved species (even though it goes by the name 'Goofius Dodofiscia' at times). The Professor is the final result of the process of evolution of a simple Lecturer (Goofius Dodofiscia priori). It has been observed that in majority of the cases studied, the viciousness and air-headedness of the subject tends to remain constant or increase with time as it evolves.

There are both male and female specimens in the species of The Professor and it is observed that they do not mate! And if by chance they do (AH! HEAVEN HAVE MERCY!!!), the outcome will not always result in the off-spring being a Professor. The only way this species maintains its ecological balance is either by being active in the ecosystem for a very loooong time (by this time it evolves into a new sub-species by the name Viciouscula Vendettaidrela Emeritus) or by the process of rapid evolution from a Lecturer to a Professor.

The Professor is a pack animal and most packs are led by a single head who goes by the vernacular title of *Cue building dramatic pause* The H.O.D. The head is either a sedatory creature who hardly bothers with the minute details of the classroom activity, having many subordinates to do the dirty work; or turns into a horrid and rabid creature who puts the "Vicious" in Viciouscula Vendettaidrela!

  • Survival tips for those who encounter this species: Those who encounter the Professor will have to be very careful in their manner of behaving with this creature. The Professor is in essence a very simple minded creature and is highly prone to what is commonly known as 'flattery'. This includes praising their work on diaper designs for sparrows in the wild and their thesis on how the Universe was created by a Blender on high. But caution has to be exercised as too much flattery can cause excessive 'mental retching' in the case of the flatterer and an excessive helium inflation to the cerebrum in the case of the flatteree. because of this particular aspect, The Professor is also known by the name Flaterris Flatter (though certain experts disagree as not all Professors are prone to fall for this trick).

Another way of appeasing The Professor from causing any harm is to obey its every whim and command. This also includes working on seven simultaneous papers that may be out of scope and feeding The Professor's pet piranha - at the same time. Though this method is highly tedious, it has been proven to work on almost all the subjects that were studied.

The last option is to fall down and beg for mercy. This option is to be followed only if all the above options fail and one finds oneself between the Sea and The Professor.

  • More research is being taken up even as you read this and soon, many more interesting facts about this creature shall see the light of day.... your computer screen... television... whatever!

That's all we have for this edition. Kindly do visit us back again for more information on many other interesting creatures and species!

Thank you!

Anxious musings...

I wonder.... what does one do when a classmate asks you if you have cyanide or a .22 calibre pistol? Do you laugh at the person and walk away thinking perhaps the course was getting to his head or do you frown and bite your lip as you see someone you know suffer in the throes of depression.

Now, if you want to know what I did, I moderated between the two. But it still worries me to think that there is someone who's going through some kind of trouble and as a friend (to a certain degree), I knew nothing.

Now, this person isn't that close to me actually. He hardly talks to me per se... but well... I still respect him and I guess he feels the same way about him. And it has occured to many in my class (including me) that perhaps he is undergoing certain amount of depression.

And when he asked us all to give him a score on how he looked, I began suspecting maybe that is the reason of his insecurity. But he needn't exactly worry if that be the case. He isn't that bad looking a person. And let's face it... fifty years down the lane, most of us aren't going to look like Harrison Ford!

*sigh* And I also suspect perhaps he has been denied courtship by a lady. And if his looks were the reason, I seriously don't think he should go about worrying about that! I mean, look at me! I'm still alive even after having managed to remain totally oblivious to all the cute software engineers in Cognizant! ;D

Now all we can do is include him in all our group activities and hope to get him back out of his shell. Ai Elbereth! And they say girls are complex!

......meh.....

I am totally lazy right now to even think of some good title! And just so the general populace know... I had a slight accident that involves a back-stabbing backpack, a really sharp nail and the level crossing. So now I lie, in tank tops sighing my days away as I wait for a two inch long gash in my back to heal. (Oh and the tetanus shots are all done with...damn, I hate needles!)

I guess the wound was kind of unsightly because as I shrugged off the pain and proceeded to college, I could find a lot of my friends going 'sssssssss'. One of them dropped the bottle of water she was holding... makes me wonder... Hmmmm.... maybe it's time I concocted vivid narrations as to how I incurred the wound. *evil grin*

And as for the exam I had on the same day... I think I'll pass. It was getting a little difficult as I had a bruised back, a full bladder and the inferno known as Gauss divergence theorem to deal with - at the same time! You do the math people! (No pun intended... and if you didn't get that well...eheh...)

I've got Workshop Technology tomorrow or as my dear friend Sido would say - "a man's job!"

Makes me want to wish I'd get sucked into some parallel dimension where I'll be crowned the saviour of their universe and never have to worry about another lathe or drilling machine or some other horrendous contraption along the same lines!

*Sigh* like many other things in my life... wishful thinking!

Ja... I'm off people! Will keep you guys posted... If I live through the ordeal that is! MWAAAHAHAHAHA!

On puke...ads and indecisiveness!

I was checking a friend's half-dead blog and guess what I found there! Two ads about 'Dog Bowel movement' and 'puke'! And all because the only post that was there was about an unfortunate incident involving drunk friends and vomit! And many of the other relatively more active bloggers are awaiting their Adsense approval! (Not me! No way Jose! I'll be dead before there's an ad in this blog! ARR!!!!)

I guess I should advise my other friends to start writing about puke now! ;D

And my parents are hunting for a good car! And their indecisiveness is driving me a little up the wall! DECIDE ALREADY!!! For once I'd like to tell them - 'You're selecting a car! Not a life partner!' But then I realize that my next meal depends on my dad's cooking skills and Mom's dough and rubbing them the wrong way will not exactly work in my best interests!

So I shall endure! I SHALL ENDURE!!! *thunder and lightning in the background*

Tryst with the Immature

I'm sure most of us have experienced this scenario atleast once.
Imagine this : You're approached by a total stranger who wants to know what your name is and where you live and what your goal in life is and a million other things.
Now... I am not against making new friends. But when all you have to gauge this 'prospective' friend is a username and an 'avatar' that is not even human-ish.... you will have second thoughts. And with good reason.

Now this 'person' had contacted me through my IM id which I am not sure how he came to know. And well... it started with a 'Hi'. And for the sake of courtesy I replied back. (This shall be my mistake numero uno) And then he kept on asking for various details like my name and how it seemed weird (my onscreen name is different from my real one) and blah blah blah... I can assure you... he wasn't exactly the best conversationalist. And so... I chose to keep myself aloof.
And then, he was talking about my goals in life. I mean come on! I am not the type of person to share my life's goals with a total stranger.

And I must admit I got worked up at his insistence and did sarcastically point it out to him that I wasn't interested. And for the first day, he left! (Cue for a sigh of relief)
but Nay... He did return the next day. I should've blocked the bloke (that sounds nice!) but I didn't. Well... I didn't want to send the wrong message to people that I wasn't sociable (My second mistake). On second day, his tone was a lot more friendlier... and that got me even more suspicious. He kept blabbing about his day and other equally disconnected things (If he had half the brains he claimed he did... He would've gotten the hint). And then... suddenly, he asked me to send me the link of my profile from my social networking site. Now this seriously got me worried. I declined the offer. And at this point, things got nasty. He suddenly switched over from the very nice 'prospective' friend to the aggressive male dish-rag who accused me of b**ching around with him. (Oh... polite denial is termed that... huh?) and horror of horrors! He had hacked into my acocunt already and showed me my own photos! Well... that was when I decided enough was enough. I have blocked him ever since.

Now I'm sure this post sounds like a sermon in many ways. But well... I would just like to share what I've been through. I begin to suspect if my account has been hacked into for I find myself a member of communities that I would never in my right mind consider joining! (50cents... not my type ever!) And this latest incident. All I could do now was delete my albums and tighten the security a notch higher.

Apparently... there had been a security breach a month or two ago. I suspect this infiltration had happened then. But this incident hasn't exactly left me ruffled, for I believe there are more number of intelligent netizens than there are dumb-ass idiots like the one I managed to bump into!
That person has long since created a community that borders on vulgarity under my expense. And I'm not sure if he'll stop at that. But whatever weapons he may throw at me, I am fully prepared to meet him head-on. I understand that these jerks feed on their victim's fear and to appear non-plussed would be the first thing I should do. And I am non-plussed.

But what fails to amuse me is that... this person claims to be a citizen of the US for the past 9 years. But his demeanour clearly shows what a lout he is in reality. Oh well... he's promised me I'd be famous in the "nether" circles of the Web. And I've wished him luck on making a fool out of himself. We'll see what happens. And nope! I'm not some cry-baby indian doll who runs for cover at the slightest signs of trouble... bring it on buster! I'm more than ready for you! >=)

And now, a few pointers to such "people" who lurk the web everywhere :
  • Not everybody is into spontaneous cyber bon homie. And no... Just because we know your name, we're not going to go out with you.
  • Please be mature enough to understand that when a person doesn't want to be your friend, they don't want to be your friend. They're being open and honest about their feelings regarding the relationship early on. Do understand that and maybe you'll lead a happier life.
  • Stop assuming that every girl or boy you meet will be flattered if you tell them you're rich and settled in the glorious "US of A". That place is not heaven. And you're not God.
  • Stop hunting for potential 'dates' in social networking sites. There are specific websites for that and I think you'll find a warmer reception there.
  • Don't assume that every girl you meet will be a beautiful princess who shall gladly accept your advances and shall happily walk down the aisle with you.
  • And there are certain basic courtesies that are universally accepted. hacking into another person's account just to be rude is not only immature, its also demeaning on your part.
  • And finally... Rudeness is a sign of fear and weakness that's lurking in your heart. If you're not afraid or weak, prove it by being courteous and civil.

And for all those other people out there, who've seen their accounts being infiltrated,

  • Report spams and harmful messages immediately. Delete them as soon as you get them.
  • Check to see if any abmormal aspects are present in your profile. Check if you have any additional communities tha you don't remember signing into.
  • Do NOT accept friend requests from strangers. They may be well meaning. But why take a chance?
  • I know I shouldn't be saying this... but don't post sensitive information in any public domain. The world has its share of evil doers. And their conscience has long been dead.
  • Lock your albums. But that may just be a fancy way of keeping things safe... but not necessarily an efficient way. Hackers can hack locks very easily. And so, just to be on the safer side, don't put your albums online. (yes! yes! I've learnt my lesson now! :D)
  • Don't be intimidated if some low life decides to taunt you. A bully can only trouble you if you're scared of him. That person has a much lower level of self-confidence than you. Let your bravery come out and fight for your justice! :D
  • Have good relationships with your friends (the ones you've seen and met). Don't care what the world thinks of you. As the saying from Dr. Seuss goes,
"Those who matter don't mind. And those who mind don't matter."

So folks... Have a splendid time online but just be careful a little.

Now, to all those potential 'friends' out there! I humbly apologize if I don't tell you my exact address and directions to come to my house the very first day we meet. And I'm sorry... I'm not that trusting.
